About..

I am an artist in the Pacific North West’s small, rural community of Enumclaw, WA, 40 miles south of Seattle and nestled at the base of the Cascade Foothills.

Surrounded by farmland and the Cascades I find an endless supply of various landscapes for painting subjects. However, for variety I enjoy small still life subjects in my home studio.

While I’ve always indulged in art in one way or another I began a serious pursuit of my art career in 2005. Studying through books, magazines, internet and other artists and painting almost every day. I couldn't get enough of either.

I prefer oils to other mediums for many reasons. They are my first love and I enjoy working wet on wet and the ability to push paint around. But there is a quality to oils that has me hooked. For me, they’re classy, elegant, challenging yet achievable.

The direction I am taking my work is toward impressionistic. A painterly look with visible brush strokes telling part of the story. Playful and at times enhanced color. Simplicity for simplicity sake. And a sense of entering the painting.

I am not unique in my sincere admiration of Monet, Pissarro and Van Gogh. There is much to be learned by them and I intend to indulge.
